Classic Hammocks Without a Spreader Bar

Which size is right for you?

Hammock sizes work differently than clothing sizes. What matters most is:

1. How much space you have to hang the hammock.
2. How much room and comfort you want.

The larger the hammock, the more room you have to stretch out and relax. For classic hammocks without a spreader bar, lying diagonally is recommended because it allows the fabric to open around the body and provides the intended hammock position.

How to choose the right size

• Limited space, balcony, or small backyard: choose Single.
• More room to relax: choose Double.
• Maximum comfort and plenty of room to stretch out: choose King.

Tip: If you occasionally want to share your hammock with a partner, children, or friends, consider going one size larger.

How to Measure Your Space

Start by measuring the distance between your two attachment points, such as trees, posts, walls, or beams.

For a classic hammock without a spreader bar, a useful rule of thumb is:

Required hanging height is approximately half the span between the attachment points.

For example, if your attachment points are 10 ft 2 in apart, the recommended minimum hanging height is approximately 5 ft 1 in.

Use the minimum dimensions shown in the size chart as your starting point.

A properly hung classic hammock should have a gentle sag rather than being pulled tight. This allows the fabric to open and support the body comfortably.

Working with a small or unusual space

Your attachment points do not always need to be directly opposite each other. In some rooms, patios, balconies, or covered spaces, a hammock can be positioned diagonally or across a corner to create more usable hanging distance.

Hammocks With a Spreader Bar

Spreader-bar hammocks hang differently from classic hammocks. They are designed to remain more open and therefore require greater tension.

The distance between the two suspension points should generally be approximately equal to the hammock's total length. Always check the dimensions provided for the specific model before installation.

Where Can I Hang My Hammock?

Depending on the hammock and appropriate mounting hardware, installation may be possible:

• Between two trees
• Between posts
• Between suitable walls
• From beams or appropriate ceiling mounting points
• Using a combination of structural attachment points
• On a compatible hammock stand

Important: All mounting surfaces and attachment points must be structurally load-bearing. If you are unsure whether a wall, ceiling, beam, post, tree, or other surface is suitable, consult a qualified professional before installation.

No suitable attachment points?

A compatible hammock stand may be a better solution when permanent attachment points are unavailable. A stand also makes it easier to reposition the hammock between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Limited horizontal space?

Consider a hammock chair. Hammock chairs generally require only one suspension point and considerably less horizontal space than a full hammock.

Hammock Care

Unless otherwise specified for the individual product, LA SIESTA classic hammocks, hammock chairs, and children's hanging nests are generally suitable for gentle machine washing at 86°F / 30°C on a delicate cycle.

Always check the individual product's care instructions before washing, particularly when the hammock includes wooden spreader bars, structural components, padding, or outdoor-performance materials.
